About Breaking Barriers
Breaking Barriers is a Rochdale-based, multidisciplinary production company whose work is
rooted in amplifying unheard voices and bringing ambitious work to local streets and people. We
work with communities, young people and artists from a rich diversity of backgrounds and lived experiences, and through co-creation like to tell stories in ambitious digital formats that open minds, elevate appetite, and transcend socio-economic barriers.
About Producers Week
Rochdale is experiencing an exciting period of growth and cultural investment, with projects like
the £23.6 million Towns Fund helping to shape its future. As arts and culture flourish, there’s a
need for more local Producers to support this transformation. Producers Week aims to address
this by supporting early-career producers in Rochdale develop the skills to contribute to the
borough’s vibrant cultural scene.
This course will run for one week, 10-14 March 2025, 10am-5pm, at Richard Street Studios +
other locations to be confirmed.
It will offer valuable insights into different areas of the industry, helping participants to broaden
their knowledge and understanding of the Producer’s role. The programme will include sessions
led by guest Producers working with different disciplines in Rochdale and beyond, cultural and
wellbeing activities, and venue visits. At the end of the course, attendees will receive a seed-
commission to contribute towards the delivery of their own small-scale activity as well as a 1-1
follow up chat with a producer to support the legacy of your work moving forwards.
We will share the full programme in January 2025!
